Being of mid-European Jewish origin confers a risk for contracting classic KS, but this is a relatively rare disease. There are no known risk factors for the African variant except possibly geographic origin. The type that occurs after immunosuppressive drug treatment has only the drug as a source of risk.
At Significantly Higher Risk
• People who share or use HIV-contaminated needles. According to multiple studies presented at the 1993
